A  barangay high school in Barangay Lourdes , Cortes  which is 4.5 kilometers from the town proper and which site is adjacent  to  Barangays Cabawan and Tiptip of Tagbilaran City is a recipient of 100 wooden armchairs from the University of Bohol.

This development came after UB received a letter from Mrs. Judith E. Cajes, teacher in-charge, requesting assistance from the university for classroom chairs. Since its opening, Lourdes High School  used to hold classes in  Lourdes Elementary School. It was only last year and upon recommendation of the school officials that  barangay officials led by Barangay Captain Macario Z. Ongyot Jr. and the Parents Teachers Association thru  President Sibilina Pocot decided to transfer the students to  the new site. Through  bayanihan spirit, the stakeholders built four makeshift  classrooms out of their own funds and contributions.  Although DepEd has presently  assigned eight school teachers and scheduled the  bidding of four classrooms ,  students from first year to fourth year are  in  dire need of armchairs . Presently students  are using the  school desks borrowed  from the elementary grades.

The formal turn over ceremony was held simultaneously with the induction of PTA officials last July 12, 2014 at the school grounds. Mr. Aster Pocot, UB Digital, Electronics , Mechanical and Electrical (DEME) Laboratory  In-charge and incumbent barangay kagawad of Lourdes represented the university. The donation was formally  accepted by  Mrs. Elvira I. Jabonillo, Lourdes  High School principal who likewise handed to the University of Bohol a certificate of appreciation expressing deep gratitude  for its  support to the school. In addition, the barangay and PTA officials were also unanimous in expressing their utmost thanks  to the UB administration headed by its Acting President Atty. Nuevas T. Montes and to Acting Vice President for Administration Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol III for facilitating the release of the armchairs.

The turn over was witnessed by  Barangay Captain Macario Z. Ongyot Jr., Barangay Kagawads Rene Piquero, Corsino Auguis, Alicia Garcines, Simeon Viñas, Policarpa Bautista, Roger Jumawan, AsterioPocot , Elementary School Principal Aida D. Sansan, PTA President Sibilina Pocot ,LHS faculty members, students and parents. (L.A.Boncales)
