In a change of guards, the University of Bohol/Rafael Palma College Alumni Association, Incorporated (UB/RPCAAI) inducted and sworn into office its new set officers for Fiscal Year 2014-2015 last August 1, 2014 at Jj’s Seafoods Village, K of C Drive , Tagbilaran City with Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II as inducting officer.
The new officers are Engr. Maurito R. Lim, president, Mr. Frederick B. Namoc, vice president, Dr. Carolina O. Belarmino, treasurer, Dr. Nilda A. Echavez, secretary, Dr. Jerome M. Magallen, auditor, Prof. Reinerio Augusto Real and Mr. Leo Armando B. Boncales, press relations officers. Members of the Board of Trustees include Col. Teofisto V. Cabagnot, Jr. (Ret.) PA, Col. Cesar J. Pamaong (Ret) PAF, Engr. Ulysses F. Cagande, Engr. Serviliano E. Millanar, Mr. Antonio C. Wycoco and Chris John Rener G. Torralba.
In his speech, Tagbilaran City Mayor Yap lauded the contribution of Ubians and RPCians in the development of the city , province, and the nation as well. As the first university in Bohol, the local chief executive highlighted the thousands of graduates and professionals the school has produced and who are now holding vital positions in the government and private entities. Many have contributed much to the growing economy by running their own business establishments in the city. According to Mayor Yap, the alumni of then Rafael Palma College now University of Bohol have proven their worth as service oriented, extra milers , self reliant and God loving citizens. Its track record speaks for itself. The young leader whose parents are also graduates of UB emphatically called for a stronger and continuous partnership with the alumni to help re-build the city. It may be recalled that in a trailblazing development the city government recently forged a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Bohol in sharing knowledge on Criminology and Criminal Justice and Local Governance.
For his part, newly inducted UB/RPCAAI President Engr. Maurito R. Lim sounded his appeal for a more active alumni association. He encouraged the members to look forward and strive for excellence in their respective field of endeavors to bring honor and prestige to the alma mater. Lim likewise acknowledged the past presidents for galvanizing the group and leading it to the right direction. With him taking the reign of the association, Engr. Lim top listed the interests of its members and the development of the university to uplift the welfare of the students, faculty and employees.
Also in attendance during the induction and oath-taking ceremony was UB Acting President Atty. Nuevas T. Montes who delivered a jovial and inspiring message. The lady lawyer who expressed the full support of the administration to the association reminded the officers of their solemn oath to its constitution and by-laws. She challenged the group to continuously reach out the alumni all over the world and make the association more vibrant and pro-active. With the scheduled celebration of Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan next year, Atty. Montes pinned hope for a successful holding of 5th UB/RPC grand alumni homecoming in 2015.
On the same occasion, UB/RPCAAI President Maurito Lim and UB Acting President Nuevas T. Montes, presented plaques of appreciations to past alumni association presidents, Judge Jorge D. Cabalit, Col. Teofisto V. Cabagnot, Jr., and Col. Cesar J. Pamong for their invaluable services rendered during their terms of office. (L.A.Boncales)
