Strengthening its culture of research among faculty and students, the University of Bohol (UB) Nursing Department once again sent one Clinical Instructor and four students to present their studies at the Sandugo 2025 Nursing Research Conference held on July 24, 2025, at the Bohol Cultural Center, Tagbilaran City.
Dean Myrna B. Bernaldez of the College of Allied Health Sciences proudly announced that in the Professional Category, Mrs. Layna B. Opaco won 1st Place with her study titled “University of Bohol: Assessing Knowledge, Attitude, and Barriers Towards Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Among Residents in Purok 4, San Isidro, Tagbilaran City.”
In the Student Category, the following researchers also earned distinctions for their respective studies: Keven Louise V. Fudalan – 1st Place: “Knowledge, Perception, and Use of Genetic Medications among Residents in Tagbilaran City, Bohol”; Claire G. Hormachuelos – 2nd Place: “Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices on Telemedicine in Rural Healthcare Delivery among the Residents of Tagbilaran City, Bohol”.
Third place resulted in a tie between Keannu B. Besas for his study, “Effects of Perceived Safety and Accessibility on the Choice of Local Birthing Centers vs. Hospitals among Expectant Mothers in Cogon, Tagbilaran City, Bohol,” and Mia D. Sumalinog for her research, “Factors Influencing Post-Exposure Rabies Vaccination of Residents in Tagbilaran City.

The research conference was organized by the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) – Bohol Chapter, under the leadership of its president, Dr. Melinda C. Pausanos.
Notably, the UB Nursing Department gained recognition during the 10th Central Visayas Health Research & Innovation Conference (CVHRIC) held in Tagbilaran City in May 2025. Two of its faculty members excelled in the Professional Category: Mr. Ralph Rey C. Supremo, College Instructor, won 2nd Place, while Mr. Calvin C. Ibañez, College Instructor, secured 3rd Place.
In the Student Category, Princess Mikaela Guiang, a Level IV student from Section Ivory, won 1st Place in the Infographics Exhibit, and her classmate, Ashley Barrete, was adjudged Best Presenter in the Infomercial Exhibit.
