UB Holds Annual Leadership Program

Looking forward to continuously producing responsible leaders, the University of Bohol once again conducted its annual Leadership Enhancement and Development Seminar (UB LEADS) for student leaders and advisers at the Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center (VDTALC) on July 23–25, 2025. Attended by officers of the Supreme Student Government (SSG), Campus Student Organizations (CSO), and their advisers, the three-day training program aimed to strengthen the leadership and management skills of student leaders and mentors. Rooted in the values of Scholarship, Character, and Service, UB LEADS featured workshops, team-building activities, and expert-led learning sessions designed to develop well-rounded and resilient leaders. UB Nursing Researchers Win Awards at PNA Research Conference

Strengthening its culture of research among faculty and students, the University of Bohol (UB) Nursing Department once again sent one Clinical Instructor and four students to present their studies at the Sandugo 2025 Nursing Research Conference held on July 24, 2025, at the Bohol Cultural Center, Tagbilaran City. Dean Myrna B. Bernaldez of the College of Allied Health Sciences proudly announced that in the Professional Category, Mrs. Layna B. Opaco won 1st Place with her study titled “University of Bohol: Assessing Knowledge, Attitude, and Barriers Towards Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Among Residents in Purok 4, San Isidro, Tagbilaran City.” In the Student Category, the following researchers also earned distinctions for their respective studies: Keven Louise V. Fudalan – 1st Place: “Knowledge, Perception, and Use of Genetic Medications among Residents in Tagbilaran City, Bohol”; Claire G. Hormachuelos – 2nd Place: “Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices on Telemedicine in Rural Healthcare Delivery among the Residents of Tagbilaran City, Bohol”. Third place resulted in a tie between Keannu B. Besas for his study, “Effects of Perceived Safety and Accessibility on the Choice of Local Birthing Centers vs. Hospitals among Expectant Mothers in Cogon, Tagbilaran City, Bohol,” and Mia D. Sumalinog for her research, “Factors Influencing Post-Exposure Rabies Vaccination of Residents in Tagbilaran City. In its continuous pursuit of institutional advancement, the University of Bohol made a significant stride through a successful benchmarking visit to Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) on July 21, 2025. This opportunity was made possible through the generous accommodation of PLM University President Atty. Domingo Y. Reyes, Jr., who shared valuable insights into the systems and practices that uphold PLM’s reputation for academic and operational excellence. The visiting UB delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Ryan Jay Cruz, Head Executive Assistant, on behalf of the PLM University President who was attending to official matters at the Manila City Hall. UB Student Lands Job in Japan Through Internship Abroad Program

Earl Kenneth Tagaytay Pocot, a graduate of the University of Bohol (UB) College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, has officially secured full-time employment at Tokyu Hotel in Japan. His hiring followed the successful completion of the intensive training under the Student Internship Abroad Program—an international collaboration between UB and the Tokyu Hotels Group. Tirol III, the University of Bohol has partnered with Tokyu Hotels Group, a prominent leader in Japan’s hospitality industry, to provide international On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities for students of UB’s Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management program. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), qualified students gain the unique opportunity to train across the Tokyu Hotels Group’s network of establishments in Japan. The program offers comprehensive, hands-on experience in various hotel departments, equipping students with a well-rounded understanding of hotel operations and service excellence. A key component of the program is its targeted recruitment strategy. Graduating trainees may receive employment invitations from Tokyu Hotels Group, reflecting the program’s goal to bridge academic learning with global industry demands. UB 2030: Uniting for a Vision of Academic Excellence and Sustainable Impact

In line with shaping the University of Bohol’s trajectory toward 2030, a two-day planning session was held at the University Information Resource Center (IRC) with executive officers, administrative heads, process owners, and stakeholders last July 10-11, 2025. The Institutional Development Plan (IDP) 2030 embodies UB’s renewed commitment to producing exceptional graduates, fostering responsive systems, and deepening its impact on local and global communities. The University of Bohol IDP 2030 Core Committee led by Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol, III, University President, Dr. Maricel A. Tirol, Vice President for Finance, Dr. Marlumina B. Teh, Vice President for Academic Affairs together with the Deans, Principals and Unit Heads. In recognition of its strong and enduring partnership with the City Government of Tagbilaran, the University of Bohol (UB) was honored with the Public Alliance Award during the 59th Charter Day Celebration of Tagbilaran City on July 1, 2025, held at the Bohol Wisdom School gymnasium. Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Censoria Cajes-Yap, together with Vice Mayor Atty. Adam Jala, and City Administrator Alvin Acuzar personally presented the award to UB in acknowledgment of the university’s active role in promoting transformative education, responsive governance, and sustainable community development. The city lauded UB’s unwavering commitment to collaborative engagement, citing its invaluable support and consistent participation in joint civic and academic initiatives. The recognition affirms the shared vision and partnership between UB and the local government in driving positive change for the community. Day 1: Groundwork for Strategic Reflection The planning workshop began with an invocation led by Mr. James Emmanuel Tabigue, Marketing Head. Dr. Marlumina B. Teh, Vice President for Academic Affairs, welcomed the participants with a call to align academic excellence with responsive administration. Dr. Maricel A. Key performance gaps and gains were identified across strategic objectives including employability, board performance, financial management, facilities, and student support services. Tirol III charted a visionary five-year direction, calling the UB community to lead transformative change through empowered faculty, student-focused innovation, and deeper community impact. Day 2 opened with reflections from Ms. Ria Eva Sevilla, Vice President for Administration, who highlighted the need to transform policies into pathways for innovation. Dr. Villarante recapped Day 1 insights, emphasizing that the ideas generated were now stepping stones for reform. With clarity of purpose and bold determination, they refined UB’s strategic objectives and performance indicators to reflect the changing needs of education and society. The two-day session ended not simply with outputs, but with a profound sense of unity—a collective heartbeat that echoed across every room. The IDP 2030 is more than a roadmap; it is a living testament to UB’s unwavering mission to transform lives through Scholarship, Character, and Service. As UB steps into 2030, it does so with renewed strength and shared resolve.
