Julius Philip Bon, a sophomore student of the University of Bohol College of Criminal Justice (CCJ), clinched a bronze medal in the Petanque Mixed Triple Event during the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, held on December 9–10, 2025, in Ayutthaya, Thailand.
Petanque (pronounced peh-TONK), is a precision target sport in which players throw metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden target ball called the cochonnet or jack, while standing inside a circle with both feet on the ground. Although not an Olympic sport, petanque is featured in major international competitions such as The World Games and the Southeast Asian Games, highlighting its growing global recognition.
Mr. Asterio Pocot, University of Bohol Athletic Affairs Coordinator, disclosed that Bon is a varsity petanque player who earned a spot on the Philippine Petanque Team after successfully qualifying in a national tryout held in Manila.
